This lightweight, high strength, low stretch and
durable material is covered in a lightweight black
or white jacket which protect the fibres against UV
degradation and abrasion.
Kevlar
49 has one of the highest strength to weight ratios
in theory.
KevlarŪ
is typically used for
Backstays, Running Backstays, Checkstays, Diagonals,
Innerforestays and Babystays. Multihulls are using
often KevlarŪ
as main shrouds.
